We have been busy lighting up theatres in red for the #LightItUpRed event on 6th July.
Working collaboration with @FreelancersMake and @_scene_change_, Stuart Harris from Motion Mapping, we did a drive by of Lyceum Theatre, London, The Royal Opera House and Palace Theatre London to highlight the message that behind these world famous institutions and stage shows are the freelance workforce.
Following the welcome news that a fund of £1.57bn will be made available to sustain our cultural venues, it is to the fate of this diverse & skilled range of freelance individuals that we must turn our attention & support until it’s safe for the shows to go on.
The imagery was designed by Nina Dunn with Stuart Harris providing the mobile lighting and projection set up and media mapping services. Rah Petherbridge accompanied us and provided these brilliant images as a record of the work and Sebastian Frost delivered the sound track to the trailer below, also edited by Nina.
Neil Austin, lighting designer and founder of the #FreelancersMakeTheatreWork campaign joined us on site and was delighted with the results. We may not be locked down any more but we are still locked out of our workplaces so joining forces to collaborate again in this way served as a great reminder of how teams in live events and theatre come together to resourcefully tell the stories that need to be told.
